Who Am I?

Bikini Wax shack is me.. Tami O'Dwyer - Hello!


I first trained in beauty in the early 90's at the age of 18, at that time I was young, headstrong and didn't really 'like' all aspects of beauty except for waxing and the anatomy and physiology side of things.. I left college and set up business as a caterer instead.. after that a courier driver and then finally settled in the world of IT where I worked for  18 years. Here I met my husband and thought that would be how it would be until I retired..


I had kept my hand in with the waxing ever since I left college.. I waxed myself, family and friends throughout the years.. with the change in times and attitude towards intimate hair removal I saw an opportunity to specialise in just this area.. I booked a course for 'extreme waxing' with Kim Lawless the Wax queen and was hooked all over again. I set about my plan to open my own business from home..


My husband was then diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2017, 5 months after we got married 😢 

The business plan took a back seat whilst he recovered from his operation. My IT career workload increased along with my stress levels to the point where my body and mind said ENOUGH! I had 9 months off work with PTSD and Anxiety and I never returned to my employment in IT. 


I had already started building my business idea when my husband fell ill but it may have just stayed as an idea until I became ill myself.. when I knew I couldn't and didn't want to work in IT anymore I began to make Bikini Wax Shack a reality.. but what would make me different than all the other salons out there? i'll wax men too I thought - that's different! 


so i booked a course with Axiom bodyworks and trained with the Wax Daddy himself Andy rouillard.. it was brilliant and definitely cemented the fact I was going to do this! I have to give a big shout out to Andy.. he was and is awesome, he was such an inspiration and a genuinely nice chap!  I made my vision a reality and finished my treatment room, with the relaxing, stylish and laid back vibe I was going for.. 


so that's me and my story, probably a little too much information but that's how i am here and Bikini Wax Shack was born. 


Oh and if you were wondering.. my husband made a full recovery and has now been cancer free for 5 years 😊

Strategies & Plans

I personally find beauty\hair salons a little intimidating.. and the reason why i wanted Bikini Wax Shack to be a home salon. A home salon is a more relaxed environment and you want to feel comfortable especially if you are having intimate waxing.. 

my treatment room although in my home has been very carefully thought out.. i have an extra wide and long treatment couch so it will cater for the larger person, it is electric so also height adjustable. 

The wall covering is a specialist hard wearing stain resistant paint that allows me to steam clean it without the surface being damaged - like the paint they use in Hospitals. the flooring is a luxury vinyl, again so this can be steam cleaned for hygiene. 

every product I use and sell is of the highest quality and also vegan and cruelty free - I don't believe that animals should suffer in any way for cosmetics. The wax I use has synthetic resin so it is great for anyone who has allergies to sticking plaster resins and standard rosin based waxes.It is hypoallergenic and ideal for those with even the most sensitive skin.

The products I have chosen to retail have also been tried and tested.. along with being vegan and cruelty free, I have also thought about the price having varying products and price points to cater for all budgets, so everyone can exfoliate and moisturise at home to get the very best results out of their waxing treatments.

The overall plan is to become the 'go to' place to be waxed in Northampton, for people to enjoy their treatment, feel comfortable and relaxed, educated, informed and above all to be super happy with their Bikini Wax Shack Experience!
