Post-Treatment Advice

Post-TREATMENT ADVICE

it is recommended that you follow this advice after your treatment.

New Freshly waxed skin needs a little TLC to help prevent adverse reactions and to ensure you get the best long-term results from your treatment.

Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if this is your first wax or you have been a shaver. This will settle over the next 24-48 hours, but please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

To get the best results from your wax, please follow the guidelines below..

Keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the next 24-48 hours..

The waxing process will leave your pores open within this period, so they are especially susceptible to bacterial infection in the hours immediately after hair removal - repeatedly touching freshly waxed skin, tight clothing, dirty towels and getting hot and sweaty at the gym are prime culprits for pimples developing.

Using an antibacterial skin wash such as tea tree oil shower gel and regular application of an antiseptic cream to the treated area, will help prevent infection in the days following your treatment and help any pimples clear if they do develop. Pimples will generally clear within a week but if they become painful or do not show any signs of improvement then seek GP advice as they may have become infected.

So...

No hot baths, showers or saunas (cool to lukewarm only)

No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tan)

No sports, swimming, gym work or other vigorous exercise

No scratching or scrubbing the treated area

No sexual activity after intimate waxing for a minimum of 24 hours

No deodorants, body sprays, powders or lotions on the waxed area, other than those products recommended by BWS

DO wear clean, loose fitting clothes

DO apply an antiseptic cream regularly for the next few days, to soothe and protect the skin. Always wash your hands before applying any products

To prevent ingrown hairs..

Starting a few days after your appointment (once your skin has settled) GENTLY exfoliate the skin up to 3 times per week using a body mitt, brush or scrub.

Moisturise with a body oil every day to keep the skin supple and help the new hairs to grow through normally. Occasionally, even with regular exfoliation and moisturisation people can still get ingrown hairs.. in this case a specialised ingrown treatment lotion\oil can be purchased to aid the shedding of dead skin to release those trapped hairs.

I retail products below RRP in store if these are of interest. Prevention is better than cure!

The first few times you get waxed, you may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take several treatments for your hair to get on a cycle that gives the best results. Hair needs to be at least 1/2 cm long to be waxed, an easy way to tell if your hair is long enough is if your fingers can grab the hair, the wax will be able to too! please do not shave, tweeze, or use hair removal cream between your appointments.

To maintain a smooth appearance, waxing is recommended regularly every 4-8 weeks. Underarm and Facial hair ideally every 3-4 weeks.

Thank you for booking your treatment with me, I look forward to welcoming you back to Bikini Wax Shack in the future.
